Under the High Patronage of the President of the Republic of Italy, the 26th Week of the Italian Language in the World will take place from 19 to 25 October 2026. This year’s theme is “A Brilliant Language: Conceiving, Designing and Creating with Italian,” highlighting the role of the Italian language as a vehicle for Italian craftsmanship and expertise, synonymous with quality and recognised and appreciated throughout the world.
We will inaugurate the Ethiopian edition of SLIM 2026 on 19 October with a performance entitled “UNO STRADIVARI AL CINEMA: A Journey Through the Great Italian Film Music”, with the soloists of the Camerata Ducale, conducted by Maestro Guido Rimonda.
On this occasion, the renowned musician will perform on the legendary Stradivarius violin named “Le Noir,” built in 1721 by the great luthier Antonio Stradivari (c. 1644–1737), whose string instruments are considered the finest ever made all over the world.
The concert will be accompanied by screenings of some of the most beloved scenes in the history of world cinema, including Oscar winners such as “Life Is Beautiful” by Roberto Benigni, “Cinema Paradiso” by Giuseppe Tornatore, “Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow” by Vittorio De Sica, “The Postman” by Michael Radford & Massimo Troisi, aside, of course, from Sergio Leone‘s unforgettable Western films.
The performance will offer a captivating journey through the unforgettable film scores of composers such as Ennio Morricone, Luis Bacalov, Nino Rota, Armando Trovajoli and, Nicola Piovani.
