Italian Design Day in the World kicks off in Addis Ababa from March 24th to 27th, a regular event bringing together architects, designers, academics, and entrepreneurs in the sector, now in its 10th year.
For the occasion, the Italian Cultural Institute in Addis Ababa, together with the Italian Embassy, the Italian Trade Agency (ITA), and our Ethiopian partners, is offering an intensive program of activities, including masterclasses, workshops, and exhibitions, all centered on this year’s theme: “RE-DESIGN. Regenerating spaces, objects, ideas, relationships.”

– March 24th: Masterclasses “REFUTURING HABITATS. Living Ecosystem and Power Dimensions: Who Regenerates Space, and for Whom?” (at the Italian Cultural Institute in Addis Ababa at 12:00 pm and the Addis Ababa University – College of Technology and Built Environment at 3:00 pm);
– March 26: Keynote lecture “REFUTURING CREATIVE TALENT. Creativity is Power: Who Shapes Ideas, and for Whom?”, with the welcome greetings by the Undersecretary of State for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Maria Tripodi, and the Minister of State for Culture and Sports, Nebiyu Baye (Creative Hub Ethiopia, at 2:30 pm);
– March 27: Workshops “RE-DESIGN as REFUTURING. Design is Power: Who Regenerates What, and for Whom?” (at the Addis Ababa University – Alé School of Fine Arts and Design at 10:00 am and the Urban Center at 5:00 pm).
