The Giornata del Contemporaneo – Italian Contemporary Art is curated by AMACI – Associazione dei Musei d’Arte Contemporanea Italiani and is realised with the support of the Direzione Generale Creatività Contemporanea of the Ministry of Culture, in collaboration with the Direzione Generale per la Diplomazia Pubblica e Culturale of MAECI.
The leitmotif of the 19th edition of the Giornata del Contemporaneo is the theme of ecology, connected to that of sustainability: global urgencies that confront us with the need to rethink the contemporary art system through a renewed awareness and a more widespread sensitivity’.
For the occasion, photographer Marco Pinarelli will hold a series of workshops from 4 to 7 October 2023 at the Alle School of Fine Arts and Design of Addis Ababa University. An intensive and practical course that takes participants through the principles of photography to the creation of a portrait. The techniques of the great painter Michelangelo Merisi, better known as Caravaggio, will be used and his artistic works will be analysed and recreated, in an innovative and sustainable way, step by step. Each session will explore new themes with the aim of stimulating the creation of new portraits.
The workshop is open to young artists who are looking for a creative and engaging experience and the only requirement is the desire to explore new forms of expression through photographic portraits.
