Italian-Ethiopian Conference “Between Artifacts and Manuscripts. The activities of the University of Naples L’Orientale in Ethiopia: work in progress and future prospects”

The Italian-Ethiopian conference is organized in cooperation with Addis Ababa University and in the framework of the Cooperation Agreement between the ICI in Addis Ababa and the University of Naples “L’Orientale”, the oldest school of Oriental Studies in Europe, which boasts a long and significant tradition of Ethiopian studies ranging from ancient, medieval and modern history to linguistics, philology and archeology.

During the Italian-Ethiopian conference, the well-known scholars of the two Countries will present – with a glimpse on future prospects and research developments – the main archaeological and philological activities currently underway in Ethiopia and about Ethiopia, and often conducted in synergy with local institutions, in particular with Addis Ababa University.
