"Eyes on Tomorrow" opens in Addis Ababa

The stage of the exhibition "Eyes on Tomorrow" is about to start! The only one in sub-Saharan Africa and the largest edition abroad with 9 artists and 9 open air installations, the exhibition will be hosted in the beautiful gardens of the Zoma Museum in Addis Ababa from 12 March to 30 May 2022.
"Giovane Fotografia Italiana nel Mondo" is an original project of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and of the Municipality of Reggio Emilia, aiming at the international promotion of the most interesting artistic researches taking place in the art scene.
The exhibitions will explore three themes: Identity, Dreams and the Everyday. The first theme is explored in the works of Domenico Camarda (‘Liquido’), Francesco Levy (‘Azimuth of Celestial Body’) and Alba Zari (‘The Y’); the second is investigated by Alisa Martynova (‘Nowhere Near’), Francesco Merlini (‘Surimi’) and Iacopo Pasqui (‘Summer Tale’), while photographs by Nicola Baldazzi (‘Nel Pozzo’), Francesca Cirilli (‘Feeding Geographies’) and Anna Positano (‘A Steady Diet of Nothing’) reflect on the third.

Zari and Positano, who will spend a period of residency at the Institute, will be present in Addis Ababa for the opening and offer a seminar at the Zoma Museum entitled ‘Identity and The Everyday – Photography as self inquiry and as investigation of reality’. The Director of the IIC, Semen Kumurzhi, and the Ambassador of Italy, Agostino Palese, will open the event, which marks the resumption of the Institute’s attended exhibition activities. The exhibition will be open to the public until 30 May.
