A Free Zone: Amos Gitai’s Dialogues with Gabriele Basilico

We are proud to be hosting the internationally acclaimed filmmaker Amos Gitai, for a day of screenings and talks.

Day program:

6:30pm – 7:00 pm: Amos Gitai: A homage to his friendship with Gabriele Basilico.
Amos Gitai will pay a tribute to his friend and collaborator Gabriele Basilico. An excerpt from the unreleased film “Gabriele Basilico / Amos Gitai Dialogues” will also be screened. The film is a conversation about art and Basilico’s vision of the world, and it stands as a testament to the mutual friendship and respect between the two artists.

7:00pm – 8:30pm: screening of “Free Zone” (2005), by Amos Gitai.
Three women with different backgrounds lead a journey towards the “free zone” – a free trade, demilitarized area at the border of Israel and Jordan. With Natalie Portman, Hiam Abbas, and Hanna Laslo, who was awarded the prize for Best Actress at the Venice International Film Festival, in 2005.
The screening will be followed by a Q&A between the audience and Mr. Gitai.
