Screeining of the documentary ‘Ibi’

On the occasion of the Addis International Film Festival, the Italian Cultural Institute participates with the screening of the documentary ‘Ibi’ by Andrea Segre.

Ibi was born in Benin in 1960, has three children and in 1999, after a serious economic problem, she risked her life to allow a better future for the family. She agrees to take drugs from Nigeria to Italy, leaving her children with her mother. But she failed and served three years in prison in Naples. Freed, Ibi remains in Italy without being able to see her children and her mother for over 15 years. So, to make them participate in her new life, she decides to start filming. She speaks about herself, her home in Castel Volturno, where she lives with her new partner, Salami. She speaks of Italy, of the struggle to regain dignity and hope. The film comes from the images that Ibi has made.
