The new edition of the week dedicated to the professions of cinema and the promotion of the Italian film industry in the world

Starting on Monday 13 June, the fifth edition of Fare Cinema will be held, the event launched in 2018 that involves the organisation of a series of initiatives to promote cinema and the Italian film industry in the world, organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and the network of Italian Embassies, Consulates and Institutes of Culture, in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture, ANICA, Agenzia ICE, Istituto Luce – Cinecittà, Italian Film Commissions and Accademia del Cinema Italiano – Premi David di Donatello.

Also in 2022 Fare Cinema proposes a varied offer of content that can be accessed online for free until 19 June, on the Italian portal and on the MyMovies platform (https://www.mymovies.it/ondemand/iic/).

Italian Renaissance (https://italiana.esteri.it/italiana/eventi/italian-renaissance/)is a cycle of conversations with authors representative of the renewed attention devoted to contemporary Italian cinema by international festivals and specialised critics. Realised with Fondazione Cinema per Roma, the series is accompanied by the viewing of short films signed by each of the authors involved.

Thanks to the Accademia del Cinema Italiano and ANICA, Italian Screens (https://italiana.esteri.it/italiana/eventi/italian-screens/), presents the five finalist titles in the ‘Best Short Film’ category of the 2022 David di Donatello Awards.

On the centenary of Vittorio Gassman’s birth, a tribute (https://italiana.esteri.it/italiana/eventi/fare-cinema-2022-omaggio-a-vittorio-gassman/) is reserved for this emblematic figure of Italian cinema, with a specially produced interview with Alessandro Gassmann and the screening of the documentary ‘Sono Gassman! Vittorio re della commedia‘ by Fabrizio Corallo.

Another important anniversary being celebrated this year is the anniversary of Pier Paolo Pasolini: to mark the occasion, the Cineteca di Bologna has produced Pasolini 100 (https://italiana.esteri.it/italiana/eventi/fare-cinema-2022-pasolini-100/), a series of original video-introductions to Pasolini’s films, which will also accompany the screenings in theatres.

In addition to the streaming mode, this year Fare Cinema resumes the in-person screenings, accompanied by meetings and talks with authors, experts and operators in the sector. In this context, we would like to highlight the La Biennale di Venezia – Biennale College Cinema: Fare Cinema event, which will take four films by emerging female directors, winners of the Biennale College Cinema programme of the Venice Biennale, abroad.

Fare Cinema 2022: an edition in which Italian cinema is presented in its various facets, thanks to a programme that ranges from the great authors of the past to the artistic trends that have successfully emerged on the scene in recent years, up to the most recent promises of contemporary production.
