National conference on the promotion of architectural heritage organized in collaboration with the Ethiopian Ministry of Culture and Tourism and with the “Promoting Heritage for Ethiopia’s Development program”, funded by the European Union.
The conference will focus on the protection and promotion of the Ethiopian architectural heritage, with particular reference to the city of Addis Ababa, whose historic buildings of high architectural value, including many old Italian buildings, are currently in danger for the wild development of new constructions without any identity. For Italy, the architect Adele Cesi, Focal point of the MiBAC for the UNESCO nominations, will present the case of the city of Ivrea, recently included in the list of world heritage.
The event will be an important opportunity for discussion to make policy makers and local administrators aware of the need to preserve their heritage, to promote it and to include it in the vision of the future of Ethiopia.
