Set in the small town of Fontanarosa, the film is inspired by a chronicle of the 80s, when the ancient and monumental nativity scene was stolen, artistic and historical pride of that country. The theft is committed by Fortunato, a poor agricultural farm worker who hopes to get the money necessary for the expensive medical care for his daughter Filomena, a child otherwise destined to death.
