Within the framework of the 25th Week of the Italian Language in the World “Italofonia: Language Beyond Borders”, which will take place this year in Ethiopia from October 13th to 22nd, the Italian Cultural Institute in Addis Ababa has scheduled the event “Opera, Amore” by the Accademia del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, the first performance of an opera in Ethiopia in our time!
The project, launched by Marco Maria Cerbo and Francesco Micheli and produced by the Accademia del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino on commission from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in cooperation with the Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, will feature Maria Rita Combattelli (soprano); Michele Galbiati (tenor); Janetka Hoşco (mezzo-soprano); Carlo Manganaro (piano); and Raffaele Diego Cardone (accordion). Music by Federico Gon; libretto and dramaturgy by Alberto Mattioli; direction by Francesco Micheli; sets and costumes by Chiara Taiocchi.
