Italian language on stage, between Comedy and Tragedy

Italian language, the language of fusion and contamination, which gave life and a very clear distinction between the languages ​​used to describe the “epic” from everyday life, often separating “Tragedy” from “Comedy”.

This event attempts to show the cross between the purity of a language with its thousand regionalisms, its contaminations with Latin, with foreign languages, the language of land crossroads of history and stories, in the heart of the Mediterranean, a land of travels and migrations, that created a theatrical current, the Art of Comedy, lasting two hundred years, nomadic by its very nature and survival, which has contaminated the whole Europe, helping to find modern theater.

The Italian theater company MaMiMò will take us through a journey starting with “Comedy” from the words of Ludovico Ariosto to those of Dario Fo, followed by“tragedy” it will start with Giraldi Cinzio, then Alfieri and arrive to the modern times where we can see hybrids between tragedy and comedy such as Pirandello’s theater of the “Six Characters in Search of an Author” or Pasolini’s “Affabulazione”.
