Off we go with the annual Fare Cinema review and the 18th edition (15-19 May 2024) of the Addis International Film Festival , the most important cinema event in Ethiopia.
The IIC of Addis Abeba will be the main location of the Festival, and will have the honor to host the opening event (15 May, 5.00 pm) with the international premiere of the film “Berchidda Live – A Journey into Time in Jazz Archive”, presented by its directors and screenwriters Gianfranco Cabiddu, Michele Mellara and Alessandro Rossi.
The documentary  collects and elaborates over 1,500 hours of archive materials shot over 25 years in the various editions of Time in Jazz, a festival created and directed by the great musician  Paolo Fresu  in his hometown, Berchidda (Sardinia).
It is a concert film spanning almost forty years, an interweaving of music and places, emotions and memories: a unique cinematic and musical experience with precious testimonies from many artists, including the father of Ethio Jazz, Mulatu Astatke, and other iconic jazz musicians of our time.
