The second edition of the Italian Film Festival in Ethiopia ends with the national premiere of the film “Salvatore: the shoemaker of dreams” by Luca Guadagnino, a striking tribute to the legendary designer Salvatore Ferragamo, one of the symbols of Italian fashion and Made in Italy in the world.
The event is part of the Italian Fashion Days in Ethiopia.
Synopsis
It all began in the early 20th century, when Salvatore, a humble shoemaker with few pieces, decided to leave Naples to reach America. A hope, his, to crown the American dream, which many other Italians have experienced in those years.
His attempt, however, is successful and, after his professional experience in Hollywood, Salvatore returns to Italy, to Florence, to found what will become his luxury brand.
The docufilm tells the intense life of this Italian figure, left with little money in his pocket and became a brand of excellence, fashion icon and one of the entrepreneurial symbols of Italian fashion.
Ferragamo’s life is narrated by the voice of Michael Stuhlbarg, while his family, stlists, colleagues and even characters from the world of cinema, such as director Martin Scorsese, take part in the film.
