“Filumena Marturano” is a play about a woman, an ex-prostitute, who tricks her old pimp into marrying her. The plot thickens after Filumena reveals to her husband the reasons behind her deceit. “Filumena Marturano” has been translated and performed in various countries, and in 1964, Italian director Vittorio de Sica based the film “Marriage Italian Style” on the play.
