The Italian Republic Day celebrations were held in Ethiopia in the name of great music, with an open-air concert by Mario Biondi and his band, organized by the Italian Embassy and the Italian Cultural Institute of Addis Ababa.
With a mix of new original songs and covers, the brilliant singer-songwriter has transported in a fascinating journey full of emotions and sounds jazz over two thousand people present, including numerous government authorities and personalities from the world of business, Ethiopian culture, science and civil society.
As pointed out by the Director of the Italian Cultural Institute of Addis Ababa, Semen Kumurzhi, «to celebrate our National Day we have chosen music (and in particular jazz, a musical genre much loved in Ethiopia) because it is the universal language par excellence, without time, nor borders, that unites nations, allows dialogue, to build “bridges” to others and, at the same time, to express themselves. I am proud that today our cultural and integrated promotion is truly one of the key vehicles of Italian diplomatic action in Ethiopia and an extraordinary business card of our country»
The success of this event has confirmed the strong closeness and the excellent state of bilateral relations between Italy and Ethiopia, which are experiencing a moment of great momentum in various sectors.
