Screening of the movie ‘Ear’ (1970, by Karel Kachyňa)

On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Prague spring, the Czech embassy and the Slovak embassy “Movies by the Vault”, Golden age of the Czechoslovak cinematography of the 1960’s.

‘Ear’ is the story of a bitter married couple: Ludvik, official of the ruling Prague’s Communist Party, and Anna, his alcoholic wife.They return home after attending a political party dinner and notice their home has been broken into. Several strange occurrences, including the disappearance of their spare house keys and dead phone lines, lead them to believe that they are under surveillance by their own government.
