Masterclass on Italian Fashion in Addis Ababa, Arba Minch and Dire Dawa

masterclass -A brilliant language

The Ethiopian edition of the 26th Week of the Italian Language in the World (theme “A Brilliant Language: Conceiving, Designing and Creating with Italian”), extends beyond the capital, visiting the cities of Arba Minch and Dire Dawa for the first time with an extensive educational project for young Ethiopian designers and creatives: “A Brilliant Language: The Ingenuity of Italian Fashion”.

Guided by renowned fashion designer and curator Alessandra Carta, Creative Director of Istituto Modartech (part of the AFAM system — Higher Artistic and Musical Education under the Italian Ministry of University and Research), participants will explore the fascinating world of Italian fashion and Made in Italy, which combines craftsmanship, design, and technological innovation with the authentic Italian art of making.

The programme will culminate at Creative Hub Ethiopia in Addis Ababa with the closing event of the “UltraFashion – Show Your Talent in Italy!” project. The event will feature a workshop led by Alessandra Carta and a talk with her, moderated by renowned model and fashion designer Anna Getaneh, alongside Ethiopian designers who participated in Milan Fashion Week (22–28 September 2026). The programme will also include a presentation of the garments created and a fashion exhibition.

This is a comprehensive, long-term initiative promoted with the support of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS), the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), and Ethiopian Ministry of Labour and Skills (MoLS).
