The artists of Atse Tewodros Project are back in Addis Abeba on tour with their new musical project “Maqeda” in a show of quality, talent and energy that is absolutely not to be miss, which will be presented on October 21st at the Ethiopian National Theater.
The Atse Tewodros Project was created in 2010 by Gabriella Ghermandi, singer, performer, novelist and short-story writer, in an effort to bring together Italian and Ethiopian musicians as a way of fostering mutual dialogue throught musical artistic creation. This project got its start in Addis Ababa, thanks to the collaboration with Ethiopian composer Aklilu Zewdy and Professor Berhanu Gezaw. In 2013 it recorded their first CD where traditional Ethiopian music, with traditional Ethiopian instruments, are combined with European instruments played in wonderful jazz style.
From that moment, The Atse Tewodros Project achieved success after success: her musical work had excellent reviews in the international press and on various radio programs and has been widely heard and enjoyed in Ethiopia, with many presentations on radio, television, and social media. In March 2015 the band won the World Music Network Battle of the Bands and its album under the title “Ethiopia: celebrating Emperor Tewodros II” was distributed in 65 countries. In the same year it was also the winner of the International Expo competition “Energy, Art & Sustainability for Africa”, launched by Expo Milano 2015.
We have the pleasure, therefore, to host international renowned artists who will performe in an unique and unmissable concert.
