The 2023 edition of the review dedicated to Italian design and the promotion of its talents around the world

The 7th edition of Italian Design Day will take place on 9 March. Since 2017, this event has been one of the leading tools to promote design as a distinctive element of “Brand Italia” and to internationalize the production system that originates from it.
The theme chosen for this year is “The quality that illuminates. The energy of design for the people and for the environment” and it arises from the need to create synergy between different facets of the sector. From quality as a connector along the entire Italian design supply chain, to energy as an element at the base of the production process, from sustainability and respect for the environment, to people as central nucleus around which to conceive and develop innovative ideas to combine functionality and well-being.

This year, Giulio Vianccia will be the IDD Ambassador in Ethiopia. He is one of the most considerate expert in ‘social design oriented’ projects after working in more than 22 countries and collaborated with the most important International Development Agencies. He has realised projects for Italian brands such as Brembo, Ferrari Spa, Piaggio Spa, Momo Design, Ducati, Aprilia, Gilera, Moschino and Borsalino. In 2015, he was awarded with the World Green Design Contribution Award and in 2016, he received the Compasso d’Oro Award, for his work in Social Design.

On the occasion of the IDD 2023 there will be the presentation of the book “Ethiopian Color” by Giulio Vinaccia, published by the Italian Cultural Institute in collaboration with the Embassy of Italy.

The 2023 IDD edition in Ethiopia is organized in collaboration with the Embassy of Italy, ITA – Italian Trade Agency and Creative Hub Ethiopia.

Italian Design Day 2023 is promoted and organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in collaboration with the Directorate General for Contemporary Creativity of the Ministry of Culture, Associazione per il Disegno Industriale (ADI), Fondazione Compasso d’Oro, ITA Agency, Salone del Mobile, Triennale di Milano, FederlegnoArredo, Fondazione Altagamma and Confindustria.
