The 24th Week of the Italian Language in the World, which this year will be held in until 31 October, kicks off under the High Patronage of the President of the Italian Republic. The theme of this edition is “Italian and Book: the World between the Lines”, ant it is aimed at exploring the link between language and literature in the contemporary world, highlighting the role of the book as a vehicle of Italian cultural heritage, values and identity.
Even this year, the Italian Cultural Institute in Addis Ababa has prepared a structured multidisciplinary program of over 20 events, which will explore the theme of this edition in various fields (linguistic, philology, literature, publishing, figurative art, street art and music), thanks to the numerous partners involved: Embassies of Italy and Switzerland, Treccani – Institute of the Italian Encyclopaedia, Universities of Addis Ababa, “L’Orientale” of Naples and for Foreigners of Perugia, Italian Schools of Addis Ababa, Magazine and Award for Children’s Literature “Andersen”, Mimesis Publishing House, COMITES Ethiopia and many others.
We will start, on October 15, with the concert “The Scores between the Lines: An Italian-Ethiopian Jazz Dialogue ” with the with the extraordinary participation of the great Artist, Mulatu Astatke, Father of Ethio-Jazz (https://www.treccani.it/magazine/atlante/geopolitica/mulatu-astatke-e-la-nascita-dell-ethio-jazz.html).
