In the context of the XVIII Addis International Film Festival and the VII Fare Cinema Festival, the IIC hosts the screening of the documentary “Casablanca” by Adriano Valerio.
Presented at the last Venice Film Festival, the documentary tells the story of immigration through the love story between Fouad and Daniela, two people who saved each other.
Synopsis
Fouad, son of the Imam of a working-class district of Casablanca, has been underground in Italy for ten years, waiting for medical treatment.
Daniela comes from a family of upper middle-class esotericists from Apulia. Former drug addict, she lives in a great solitude.
They met by chance in Umbria, and each of them says without hesitation that the other saved his life. Their encounter is the beginning of a love that heals at the slow pace of seasons and daily rites, a place suspended in time dance.
Over the years, however, Fouad gets tired of waiting for documents, exhausted by an environment he feels he can never belong. Will he return to Casablanca, even if this means no longer return to Italy and move away permanently from Daniela?
